So how does this work?
First, thank you! If you’ve looked through my portfolio and my style fits what you are looking for, I am thrilled and I look forward to working with you! My “Session Pricing” page has specific details about what each package includes which can help you decide on how you would like to proceed. Send me a message via the “Contact Me” link here on my website or send me an email at photographybyfelicity@gmail.com. We can go over details, answer any questions and set a session date. I’ll give you the details on how to send your deposit to secure your spot.
For my Senior clients, I prefer to meet with you and a parent/guardian in advance of your session. It is very helpful to be on the same page before the day of your session. This meeting typically only takes about 30 minutes (usually at a coffee shop-ish location). It is the perfect time for you to ask any questions, swap information and for us to get to know each other. We will go over clothing and location choices. I can also make sure that I’m clear about any special shots or details you have in mind. We can also choose a date for your session while we meet as well as take care of any required deposit.
When should I have my photos taken?
Spring, Summer, Fall, or even Winter. No matter what time of year, two hours prior to sunset is ideal. Earlier in the day, the sunlight is too harsh and can cause distracting shadows and squinting. Weeknights are also best as parks and city streets are frequently busy on the weekends which can be disruptive during the session.
How will I receive my images?
Once your edits are complete, I will send you an email (via PASS photo galleries) with a link to your online gallery. You can download the images individually or all of them at once. Once you’ve downloaded the images onto your computer, you can upload them to the lab of your choice. [For prints, I HIGHLY recommend Mpix.com to high quality, reasonably priced prints.]
The advantage of the online gallery is that you can comb through the images, select your favorites, and download only the ones you would like to print and share. You will also be able to share your gallery with friends and family easily with the same link to the gallery.
How long will it take to receive my images?
Depending on the session size (mini vs full) and time of year, my goal is to get all edited images to you within 2-3 weeks. Fall (especially October) is the busiest time of the year, so it may take a little bit longer to get your gallery to you.
How do you choose the location(s) for my session?
We have excellent city spaces and tons of beautiful parks in our area. Once I know what YOU have in mind, then I will make some location suggestions. You can also make requests and I will do everything in my power to make it happen. Please be aware that some locations require a fee and/or advanced notice.
PLEASE NOTE: Any location fees will be added to your session fee.
What should I wear?
Choose items that show your personality. Senior portraits are the perfect excuse to dress up and wear something special. Wear something that makes you feel fantastic! It will shine through in your photos.
- First, try EVERYTHING on ahead of time. That includes jewelry and shoes. Walk around the house for a bit. If you’re pulling, tugging, adjusting or generally uncomfortable, that’s not the best choice for your session.
- Avoid busy, tight prints as they draw attention away from YOU. Solids are ideal!
- Choose items that make sense for your location. If your location is green with lots of foliage, choose something that will compliment instead of making you blend into the background. City? Black or primary colors like navy blue and red really stand out.
- When choosing your clothing, remember that you will be sitting, standing, lying down. Be sure to choose clothes that you’ll be comfortable with lots of movement.
- Bring several options so you can make a choice in the moment. When in doubt, bring the outfit! (I have a pop-up “changing booth” for quick changes. Wearing a tank/cami under your clothes is even faster.)
- Also, make sure that your clothes are ironed or as wrinkle-free as possible. Again, when you FEEL good and you KNOW you look good, it shows!
- Remember jewelry and shoes to pull your outfit together.
- Dress for the season of your session. For example, if your appointment is in the summer, don’t wear fall clothing. If you are overheated, you will be uncomfortable and that will show on your face and in your body language.
- Whatever you’re involved in, sports, band, etc. bring some equipment. And if you have a lettermans jacket, be sure to bring it along.
- Avoid neon or other really bright clothing. It will reflect and create a cast on your skin tone.
- Wear the appropriate undergarments such as a strapless bra under an off-the-shoulder top, for example.
- Avoid any drastic hair changes or new skin care routines the month prior to your session.
- A great way to make decisions on what you would like to wear for your session is to create a board on Pinterest. Warning: this may become addicting!
How should I pose?
Fear not, I will guide you throughout. Just be yourself. I have tricks up my sleeve.
What if it’s raining the day of my appointment?
I will be contacting you the week of your appointment for any last minute details or questions. I’m always watching the weather and, if necessary, we will choose a rain date at that time.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes, you can – as long as the location you choose allows pets. It is also important to bring along someone to help tend to your pet when they aren’t being photographed.
Will images from my session be posted online?
Yes, unless specifically requested otherwise. I love to share your beautiful images online on Instagram, Facebook, and my website. Feel free to follow me so that I can tag you!
Do you offer professional retouching?
Every senior portrait is professionally retouched unless requested otherwise. I keep retouching to a minimum because I want you to look like yourself! The general rule of thumb is if it won’t be there in two weeks, it’ll be removed. Moles, birthmarks, freckles, scars and stretch marks, for example, will not be removed unless I’m asked specifically to do so. I firmly believe that those things are part of you and make you beautiful.
Will you submit my photo to the yearbook?
Yes! Once you make your choice, I will crop the photo and submit it with their requirements. I highly suggest a headshot rather than full body for the yearbook.
Will my images be watermarked?
Only on my website and social media. None of the images that you download from your gallery will be watermarked.
How do I make my pictures my own?
I encourage you to bring along your favorite things; sports equipment, your letterman’s jacket, your pet, your car, your uniform, band instruments, favorite books . . . Things that will make your friends and family say; “That’s SO you!”
